HR Coordinator/Safety Coordinator

Position Summary: The HR position is responsible for coordinating and applying the Company's Human Resources policies, procedures and local Human Resources tasks. The primary focus of this position will be on; hourly recruiting/orientation, employee engagement, benefit interpretations/administration, employee relations, and training. This individual must possess the ability to maintain a flawless level of confidentially.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABLILTIES:
Work with local Management and/or the Temporary Staffing Service to insure appropriate hourly staffing within the plant.
Manage the internal hiring process: including posting internal job openings/shift change opportunities, coordinating the interviews and offer process.
Manage the external hiring process: including listing all full time hourly job openings with the State Employment Security Commission, advertising for hourly positions appropriately, screening applicants, coordinating interviews, and preparing the job offer for the Plant Manager's review.
Facilitate the new employee orientation program for all new hires. Ensuring all new hire paperwork is complete. Work with plant Safety Coordinator to ensure new hires receive proper safety training.
Coordinate and maintain the drug screening process including pre-employment, post-accident and random.
Serve as plant's main contact with each Temporary Agency.
Schedule and conduct all annual training as required by plant. This includes Harassment, Open Door Policy, and Workplace Violence training.
Maintain employee files ensuring all paperwork and forms are properly filed in timely manner.
Review employee discipline to ensure proper procedure/process is being followed consistently. Coach supervisors on proper procedure if not being followed.
Ensure all policies/procedures are administered in a fair and consistent manner.
Advise management of new hire/promotion/temporary worker progression (30, 60, 90 day?) and insure performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner.
Maintain records and advise management of annual performance evaluation requirements and insure they are completed in a timely manner.
Maintain Job Descriptions and Essential Functions and update as necessary
Assist employees with questions relating to employee benefits. Explain changes to benefits in a timely manner.
Serve as contact for FMLA, determine status, track hours, maintain and prepare all documentation to comply with the FMLA procedure.
Maintains training files for all employees including tracking any training (whether in-house or external) and completing certification forms for same.
Comply with all Local/State/Federal Employment Laws (i.e. practices, postings, updating changes to remain compliant).
Be available to all employees to insure they have an opportunity to communicate questions, comments and concerns regarding employment, benefits, and policies.
Help in assisting with integration efforts between legacy Peninsula Packaging and Sonoco.
Other duties as requested by Supervisor.
SECONDARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Serve as a barometer for the plant and report employee relations issues
Conduct periodic surveys regarding local wages and benefits
Coordinate and/or provide necessary training as required
Serve as contact and administrative person for unemployment claims
Serve as contact and administrative person for short term disability claims
Serve as contact for Workers' Compensation claims
All other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
Must have high level of integrity, trust and ethical standards
Must have above average communication skills (written & verbal)
Must be able to maintain composure
Must be able to multitask and manage multiple priorities
Must be motivated and possess a high attention to detail
Must be computer literate (Word, Excel, Access, Kronos, Workday)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration
3+ years' experience
Experience in manufacturing environment or supporting 24x7 operations preferred.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
